"Saturday Night Live" was not so live when Ashlee Simpson went to perform her second song of the night. She was caught off guard when her own voice track came on from her first song of the night. Simpson walked off stage after doing a little hoe down and following that technical goof.She's been catching a lot of flack.

This has been a crummy couple of days for Simpson, it's one of those situations. All rehearsals -- have clips from all week long -- her voice was in great shape. she was so ready to go. Saturday night came at six o'clock. She have severe acid reflux. It started acting up and she could not speak or talk. But most artists on big shows do that (sing to a backing track) and she said " I had never done it once".

According to her " Vocal guide tracks or backing tracks" is not "lip syncing.She was singing with the track. Like on the first (song). She was singing with the track but her voice was not strong enough to hold up the song alone. Her dad was like, 'honey, you have to do it.' He put her vocal doctor on the phone, 'You have to'. (Singing) will ruin your vocal chords.'
Add Simpson When listen to someone performing live and they have a backing track, you hear both the recording and the voice of the artist. The sound bites fade in and out depending on how the voice is. she said she never done it bfore and the first time she did it becomes a massive deal that she could not control. Her drummer who she love and adore accidentally pressed the wrong button and did not set up the song.

However Simpson did not blame her drummer "he still my drummer and I love him, everybody makes mistakes. I didn't know that and I did the hoe-down".She have no clue where she get the little hoe-down moves, "from Texas, I freaked out and didn't know what to do. I just kind of froze. My band they started playing 'Autobiography' and switched. I love my band to death. We are all good-Simpson".According to Simpson It was the wrong button he pushed. After she blamed them at the end of the show, she said she was sick and things happen and it wasn't one person that messed up.

Even it was definitely upsetting and mortifying and she get comments like now, (I'm like) Milli Vanilli. she write all of her own music and perform from her heart. She always singing on any show she have ever done. Singing as hard as she can always. This was a situation where she was in trouble like with her voice. Each in the rehearsal she was singing and she's holding her throat.

This was at the Radio Music Awards where she made a joke about it. Why not make a joke about, as she not worried about it and she said that things happen and not everybody is perfect and you can't help it if you lose your voice and it doesn't mean you can't sing or don't write your own music.

Simpson father who also her manager explained that she walked off stage becuase she were upset. Added Simpson, when she walked off, she don't know what to do. He was like it's okay. You are okay. Breathe, breathe, breathe and she went back out there.She also talked to her sister Jessica and she was like 'stay in there and stay strong.' As she knows what it's like if you are sick or whatever.

In Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Kylie Ann Minogue was born on May 28, 1968, to Welsh parents. Her father is Ron Minogue, an accountant of Irish ancestry, and her mother is Carol Minogue a former dancer from Maesteg, Wales. Kylie grew up in Surrey Hills' inner Melbourne suburb with sister Dannii Minougue,(born on October 20, 1971, pop singer, actress and model), and brother Brendan Minougue (born on August 30, 1983, news cameraman).

Keyshia Michelle Cole (born October 15, 1981)[1] is an African-American , Grammy-nominated R&B singer-songwriter, and record producer known for her soulful voice. She released her platinum selling debut album The Way It Is in 2005, and her second album Just like You in 2007. She is currently in the process of making a third album entitled "Truth" coming out in December 2008. She also is currently making the Third Season of her BET reality series "The Way It Is" which she recently disclosed on will be out on TV in June of 2008.

Biography
Cole was born to an African-American mother and an Italian-American father. Her mother's drug addiction led to her becoming a foster child adopted by Yvonne Cole at 2 years old. She found out she was adopted at the age of 7. She did her first recordings with MC Hammer at the age of 12. Cole is widely known and appreciated in her home town of Oakland, California.

In 2004, Keyshia Cole attracted the attention of A&M Records executive Ron Fair.[1] The following year, her Platinum-debut album The Way It Is was released, featuring the hit singles "I Changed My Mind", and "I Should Have Cheated", and "Love". The album debuted at #6 on the U.S. charts and sold 89,000 copies in the first week of release. Her sophomore album, Just like You, was released in 2007. It features the singles "Let It Go" featuring Missy Elliott and Lil' Kim, "I Remember", "Shoulda Let You Go", and "Heaven Sent". It debuted at number two on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, selling about 281,000 copies in its first week.

In conjunction with her album release, BET began airing the second season of Cole's reality show "Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is" on October 30, 2007. The show premiered to record breaking ratings for BET. It is the top returning series premiere in BET history, as well as the number one original series premiere of the year. A reported 2.9 million viewers and 2.0 million households watched the season 2 finale. WALL-E (promoted with an interpunct as WALL·E) is a 2008 computer animated adventure comedy science fiction film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released to theaters by Walt Disney Pictures on June 27, 2008. WALL-E will be released onto DVD and Blu-ray on November 4, 2008.[3] The film is directed by Andrew Stanton, who previously directed Finding Nemo. It follows a romance between two robots in the future. Most of the characters do not have human voices, instead communicating with body language and sounds (designed by Ben Burtt) that resemble voices. It is also the first animated feature by Pixar to have several segments featuring live action characters. The film has received almost universal praise from film critics.

In the early 2100s, the company Buy 'n Large supplies almost every service on Earth and eventually becomes the world government. Overrun by consumerism, the planet eventually becomes so heavily polluted that it can no longer support life. In an attempt to keep humanity alive, Buy 'n Large sponsors an exodus to space aboard hundreds of massive Executive Starliners, the largest of which is the Axiom, which leave Earth in the year 2105. In the meantime, thousands of WALL-E (Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) units are left behind to clean up the planet. By 2815, only one WALL-E remains operational. Through 700 years of being alone, WALL-E has developed a personality. He collects items that he finds among the refuse, including a videotape of the 1969 movie Hello, Dolly!. Throughout the film he repeatedly plays that tape, especially the performance of "Sunday Clothes". The movie teaches him emotion, particularly holding hands (which becomes a recurring theme). He also finds and saves a seedling plant, placing it in an old boot.

EVE (Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator) (Elissa Knight), a robot from the Axiom sent to find plant life, lands on Earth. After observing her from afar, the two robots finally make contact and WALL-E's curiosity grows quickly into love. After multiple misunderstandings, WALL-E shows her the plant he found. Following her directive, EVE stores the plant inside herself and deactivates. WALL-E goes to great lengths to protect her body, including harming himself. EVE is eventually recovered by the ship that took her to Earth, which has many other EVEs aboard, and flies back to the Axiom. Chasing EVE, WALL-E latches on to the outside of the ship and rides it back to its destination. Aboard the Axiom, WALL-E escapes notice by other robots, and explores the ship. After 700 years of living in micro-gravity, the ship's passengers have become infantilized and morbidly obese, unable to stand or move without robotic help, and have no awareness of Earth. Every task is now automated, including the captain's duties, which are handled by the autopilot AUTO (MacInTalk).

After interacting with two human passengers, WALL-E follows EVE to the captain's room, where Captain B. McCrea (Jeff Garlin) is to be shown the plant. This prompts him to use the ship's computer to discover the mysteries of life on Earth that the humans on Axiom have forgotten, including farming, dancing, and pizza plants. To their surprise, EVE no longer contains the plant. AUTO informs McCrea that EVE has malfunctioned, and sends her to the robot repair ward. WALL-E is also sent to the repair room, where he, in a misunderstanding about the diagnostic machine, takes EVE's gun arm and accidentally frees all the malfunctioning robots. WALL-E is carried away by the newly-freed units. EVE chases the other robots and WALL-E to recover her arm; in the process, she is accidentally labeled as a rogue robot. Seeing the chaos WALL-E has caused, EVE tries to send him back to Earth in an escape pod, but he refuses to go. AUTO's assistant, GO-4, arrives and reveals that he had the plant the whole time. He tries to dispose of it in the escape pod; when WALL-E tries to retrieve it, he is launched into space, and the pod's self-destruct sequence is activated. By using a fire extinguisher to propel himself, he escapes with the plant at the last second. Realizing that the plant has been recovered, AUTO again triggers the alert against WALL-E and EVE. EVE manages to bring the plant to McCrea. Curious to see images of Earth, he projects EVE's security camera footage from when she shut down, where she sees the lengths that WALL-E went to protect her. The captain is shocked by the environmental devastation on Earth depicted in the recordings and decides they must return to make amends.

AUTO mutinies and tries to dispose of the plant, and is forced to reveal the truth of the situation to McCrea. After leaving the Earth, Buy 'n Large quickly concluded that the planet was too toxic to ever support life again and abandoned recolonization plans; as a result, AUTO is secretly programmed to never return to Earth. AUTO locks the captain in his quarters, electrically shocks WALL-E, throws him and the plant into a garbage chute, and deactivates EVE. EVE awakens in the Axiom's disposal facility where gigantic WALL-A (Waste Allocation Load Lifter Axiom-Class) units are compacting garbage and launching it into space. EVE saves WALL-E, whose hardware is heavily damaged and rapidly losing battery power, and realizes that they must return to Earth in order to fix him. They recruit the malfunctioning robots and fight their way back to the main part of the ship. Meanwhile, when the captain sees on the cameras that WALL-E and EVE still have the plant, he finds hope yet again and "moves" in action, hotwiring all the operating systems from the confines of his quarters. He tells WALL-E and EVE to put the plant on the holo-detector, a pedestal that rises from the floor on one of the passenger decks. AUTO sees this and investigates. As Captain McCrea jumps on AUTO and fights him, EVE and WALLE make it to the now rising holo-detector. AUTO throws the captain off of him, turning the ship on its side. He then forces the holo-detector back into the floor, and EVE is forced to save several humans as they slide into a wall. WALL-E uses his body to jam the holo-detector open so EVE can put the plant inside, which crushes him in the process. McCrea stands up by himself (to the amazement of the Axiom's passengers), jumps on Auto again, manually shuts the mutineer down, and restores chaos to order aboard the ship. Once the plant is in the holo-detector, the ship's hyperjump back to Earth is initiated. WALL-E's crushed body runs out of charge and shuts down.

Once they arrive on Earth, EVE frantically replaces WALL-E's damaged components using spare parts in his home. As he recharges, the damage has been so severe that he appears to have lost his memory of things that had happened and the personality he has developed and begins to perform his programmed task, crushing his knick-knacks into cubes. EVE, despondent over the loss of WALL-E, holds his hand and leans forward to "kiss" him, causing a spark to jump between the two. The spark reboots WALL-E's memory and he suddenly recognizes her as they embrace hands. With a renewed sense of purpose, humanity and robots begin working together to restore Earth's biosphere

New York 4th July Fireworks

While many people head to the beach for the Fourth of July, there are a wide array of activities to keep locals and visitors in New York City for July 4th entertained.

Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks
Beginning at approximately 9 p.m., Macy's will have fireworks being released from 3 separate locations around the city. There will be a patriotic flyover at 8 p.m. courtesy of the U.S. Air Force. If you're not in the area, NBC will broadcast the fireworks live beginning at 9 p.m. EST.
East River in Midtown
Fireworks will be launched from the East River, just off 34th Street. The FDR will be closed from 14th-42nd beginning at 7 p.m. for viewing. Pedestrians can access the FDR from 23rd, 38th and 42nd streets. You can also view from areas in Western Queens and Brooklyn where you can see the East River.
South Street Seaport
FDR will be closed beginning at 7 p.m. from the ferry terminal to the Pearl Street ramp. The Pearl Street ramp will offer the only pedestrian access to the FDR. Downtown fireworks will be visible anywhere that offers unobstructed views of the sky south of the Brooklyn Bridge, particularly on the Brooklyn Promenade between Jermone and Cranberry Streets and on Furman between Atlantic and Cadman Plaza West.
Liberty State Park
Located in Jersey City, viewing is best from Liberty State Park. Consult their website for details and directions.

Roosevelt Island's July 4th Fireworks Festival 2008
For $20, view the fireworks from Roosevelt Island, in the East River. Entertainment, including music and face painting, will be available before the fireworks begin. Food, provided by Dinosaur BBQ and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase, and you are welcome to bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages, but glass bottles, large coolers and oversized backpacks are not permitted. Chairs will be provided for all ticket holders -- do not bring your own. More information and directions.

Biography

Early life
Loughlin (IPA: laklɪn, pronouced Lock-lin) was born in Queens and moved with her family to Oceanside, New York, where she attended Oaks Public Elementary School #3, and then to Hauppauge, Long Island, New York, where she attended Hauppauge High School. She began her career at age twelve as a print model. During her early teen years she appeared in television commercials, and was frequently seen in national print ads like the Sears catalog and Bradlees weekly flyers. In 1979, she received her first recognizable national television exposure playing a cheerleader with a cast on her leg in a TaB Cola commercial.

Career
At the age of fifteen, Loughlin was cast on ABC's soap opera The Edge of Night, playing the part of Jody Travis, an aspiring dancer. After three-and-a-half years, prompted by the urging of Joel Crothers, Loughlin decided to try her luck in feature films and television. Her big break came when she was cast on the sitcom Full House playing the role of Rebecca Donaldson, which would be her most notable role to date.

After Full House, she starred alongside Bruce Campbell; the two played husband-and-wife bank robbers in In the Line of Duty: Blaze of Glory, which was released in 1997. Then in 2000, Loughlin co-starred opposite Treat Williams in the Fred Olen Ray-helmed thriller Critical Mass. In 1995 she starred in Abandoned and Deceived, a film based on a true story. "Gerri" is a single woman from Ohio who's scrounging to support her two sons because her ex-husband refuses to pitch in with child support. But this mom is fed up with the legal system and determined to collect money from her deadbeat husband. Not only will she get justice for her family, but she'll help so many others like her. She also made cameos on other sitcoms including Spin City, Seinfeld (as Jerry's girlfriend in 1997) and The Drew Carey Show. She also played the superhero Black Canary in the short lived Birds of Prey series.

From 2004 to 2005, Loughlin co-created, produced and starred in the WB drama series Summerland. She played Ava, the aunt who raises three children after their parents die in a car accident. The series was cancelled due to low ratings on July 11, 2005. Loughlin starred on the ABC sitcom In Case of Emergency with David Arquette, playing the role of Joanna. She appeared in the film Moondance Alexander, co-starring Kay Panabaker.

She will star in the Beverly Hills, 90210 spinoff' 90210 as Debbie Mills.

Personal life
Loughlin married Michael Burns in 1989; they divorced in 1996. In 1997, Loughlin married fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, the creator of the Mossimo clothing line. They have two children together, Isabella Rose (born September 16, 1998) and Olivia Jade (born September 28, 1999). Loughlin also dated her Full House husband John Stamos in the mid-80s.

Doherty was born in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of Rosa, a beauty parlor owner, and Tom Doherty, a mortgage consultant. Doherty has Irish Catholic ancestry, though was raised in her mother's Southern Baptist religion. In 1978, when Doherty was seven, her family moved to Los Angeles and she immediately announced that she wanted to be an actress.

In an interview in the December 2006 issue of Glamour, she said:

When I was nine, my mother developed an excruciating headache and had to be hospitalized - she was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm. She came through it but the experience was terrifying. The following year my father had a massive stroke. In a single year I nearly lost both my parents. I felt my classmates couldn't relate to what I was going through, so I closed myself off.

Success began early, with guest spots on TV series including Voyagers! and Father Murphy. When a casting notice was released in Hollywood for a regular role on the popular Little House on the Prairie she leapt at the opportunity and eventually won the role of Jenny Wilder at the age of eleven, thanks in part to actor/producer Michael Landon seeing her guest spot on Father Murphy (which he also produced).

Doherty was cast as the oldest Witherspoon sibling, Kris, on the family drama Our House, which ran from 1986 to 1988. She then went on to appear in an episode of Magnum, P.I. Doherty's first major motion picture role was in Heathers, released in 1989. She went on to star in the Aaron Spelling-produced TV series Beverly Hills 90210 for four years, from 1990 to 1994. Her departure from the series was reportedly acrimonious, however, and her career afterward was somewhat spotty, marked for the most part by made-for-TV movies. There were a few bright spots, though, particularly a lead role in Kevin Smith's 1995 film Mallrats.

In 1998, Spelling cast her in another TV series, Charmed, in which she played Prue Halliwell, the oldest of three sisters who discover they are witches, along with occasionally directing some of the episodes. She left that series in 2001, after three years. She asked to be let out of her contract, due to a feud with co-star Alyssa Milano. Though she had left the show long before it ended, she owns five percent of the rights to the series.[citation needed] She was a former regular on the failed TV series North Shore, a return to her prime-time soap roots.

In 2005, Doherty was cast in the new TV comedy Love Inc. but was dropped from the show just months before the show's debut. Doherty is now starring in her own show, Breaking Up With Shannen Doherty on the Oxygen network. In the show she goes around doing "dirty work" for members of the public, including dumping boyfriends or telling people what their friends really think about them.

She recently starred in the popular British sitcom Bo! in the USA, a program of brain child Leigh Francis. In the show, she plays herself, being randomly harassed by Avid Merrion (Francis) who claims they are lovers. The show aired in October 2006 on the British channel 4, and she appeared in several episodes. It has been announced that she will appear in two TV projects in 2007. First up is the pilot Kiss Me Deadly: A Jacob Keane Assignment for the here! network, and then the holiday picture Christmas Caper for ABC Family.

Shannen has set up a production company called "No Apologies" where she’s developing a TV-drama for herself.

Personal life
Doherty was sentenced to either ten days in jail or twenty days of work-release duty, three years probation, and ordered to pay a $1,500 fine for drunk driving charges in 2001.

Lindsay was tutored for much of her schooling but she was still able to attend public school for a portion of the time, including when she attended Sanford H. Calhoun High School. Lindsay would eventually finish her schooling through home correspondence school through a school named Laurel Springs School that is based in Ojai, California.

The Lohan family did not go without when Lindsay and her siblings were young. Donata Sullivan, also known as Dina, did very well for the family as she was a Wall Street analyst for many years. Later on Dina would become Lindsay’s manager, but before this she contributed to a financially comfortable home for herself, her husband, and her children. In addition to Dina’s contributions to a comfortable family life, Lindsay’s father was doing well, also. Michael Lohan Sr. inherited a stable past business from his father and he would later sell this business and would become President of New York future Traders.

Unfortunately, much of Lindsay’s childhood centered around the fact that her father was not there much. Lohan Sr. was sentenced to prison for four years in the later half of the 1980s, when Lindsay was very young, for securities fraud of some kind. Just when he was out of prison and establishing a relationship with Lindsay and the other Lohan Siblings he was again sentenced to prison in 2005 for two years for aggravated unlicensed driving in addition to an attempted assault. Lohan Sr. was released from prison in March 2007 and is said to be working as an investment banker who secures funds for independent films and he also works with an evangelical recovery program known as Teen Challenge.

However, at 15 Kimberly decided to give up singing for a little while to concentrate on being a kid, however she was so unhappy when she wasn't performing that she began singing again a few years later in small places to start saving money for her most prized possesion, her Truck.
Besides a talent for dancing and flexibility, Kim is also great at makeup and hair design and knows even if the competition doesn't turn out the way she would like she will be famous somehow! Kim was even a participant in the WB's Popstars 2 and made it all the way to the bootcamp! She also has a very ecclectic taste in music. "I Love every kind of Music", she says, but says her favorite has to be R&B. Some of Kimberly's favorite artists are P!nk, Craig David, Eminem and Faith Hill. Her first concert was Reba McIntire and her first Album she bought was Forever and Ever Amen" by Randy Travis. She define's her proudest momment so far as her making the top 32 on American Idol and holding the record of five wins on Star Search. The Beatles were a pop and rock group from Liverpool, England formed in 1960. Primarily consisting of John Lennon (rhythm guitar, vocals), Paul McCartney (bass guitar, vocals), George Harrison (lead guitar, vocals) and Ringo Starr (drums, vocals) throughout their career, The Beatles are recognised for leading the mid-1960s musical "British Invasion" into the United States. Although their initial musical style was rooted in 1950s rock and roll and homegrown skiffle, the group explored genres ranging from Tin Pan Alley to psychedelic rock. Their clothes, styles, and statements made them trend-setters, while their growing social awareness saw their influence extend into the social and cultural revolutions of the 1960s. After the band broke up in 1970, all four members embarked upon solo careers.

The Beatles are one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed bands in the history of popular music. The Beatles are the best-selling musical group in history. In the United Kingdom, The Beatles released more than 40 different singles, albums, and EPs that reached number one, earning more number one albums (15) than any other group in UK chart history. This commercial success was repeated in many other countries; their record company, EMI, estimated that by 1985 they had sold over one billion records worldwide.[1] According to the Recording Industry Association of America, The Beatles have sold more albums in the United States than any other band.[2] In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked The Beatles number one on its list of 100 Greatest Rock & Roll Artists of All Time. According to that same magazine, The Beatles' innovative music and cultural impact helped define the 1960s, and their influence on pop culture is still evident today.

1957–60: Formation
Main article: The Quarrymen
In March 1957, while attending Quarry Bank Grammar School in Liverpool, John Lennon formed a skiffle group called The Quarrymen.[3] Lennon met guitarist Paul McCartney at the Woolton Garden Fête, held at St. Peter's Church, on 6 July 1957; Lennon added him to the group a few days later.[4] On 6 February 1958 young guitarist George Harrison was invited to watch the group, playing under a variety of names, at Wilson Hall, Garston, Liverpool.[5] McCartney had become acquainted with Harrison on the morning bus ride to the Liverpool Institute, as they both lived in Speke. Despite Lennon's initial reluctance due to Harrison's young age, Harrison joined the Quarrymen as lead guitarist at McCartney's insistence after a rehearsal in March 1958.[6][7] Lennon and McCartney both played rhythm guitar during that period, and had a high turnover of drummers. Lennon's art school friend Stuart Sutcliffe joined on bass in January 1960.[8][9]

The Quarrymen went through a progression of names, including "Johnny and the Moondogs" and "Long John and The Beatles". Sutcliffe suggested the name "The Beetles" as a tribute to Buddy Holly and The Crickets. After a tour with Johnny Gentle in Scotland, the band changed their name to "The Beatles." Lennon's first wife Cynthia Lennon suggested that Lennon came up with the name The Beatles at a "brainstorming session over a beer-soaked table in the Renshaw Hall bar."[10] Lennon, who was well known for giving multiple versions of the same story, joked in a 1961 Mersey Beat magazine article that "It came in a vision — a man appeared on a flaming pie and said unto them, 'From this day on you are Beatles with an A'".[11] During an interview in 2001, McCartney took credit for the peculiar spelling of the name, saying that "John had the idea of calling us the Beetles; I said, 'How about the Beatles; you know, like the beat of the drum?' At the time, everyone was stoned enough to find it hilarious. It's funny how history is made."[12]

In May 1960, the then-Silver Beetles toured northeast Scotland as a back-up band with singer Johnny Gentle, whom the band had met an hour before their first gig.[8] McCartney referred to the tour as a great experience for the band.[13] For the tour, the often drummer-less group secured the services of Tommy Moore, who was considerably older than the others.[14] Moore left the band soon after the tour and went back to work in a bottling factory as a forklift truck driver.[15] Norman Chapman was the band's next drummer, but was called up for National Service a few weeks later. His departure posed a serious problem, for the group's unofficial manager, Allan Williams, had arranged for them to perform in clubs on the Reeperbahn in Hamburg, West Germany.[16]

1960–62: Hamburg, Cavern Club and Brian Epstein
Finding themselves drummerless before their upcoming engagement in Hamburg, the group invited Pete Best to become their drummer on 12 August 1960. Best had played with The Blackjacks in The Casbah Coffee Club, owned by Pete's mother, Mona Best; a cellar club in West Derby, Liverpool, The Beatles played there and often visited.[17] Four days after hiring Best, the group left for Hamburg. The Beatles began playing in Hamburg at the Indra Club and moved to the Kaiserkeller in October 1960. They were required to play six or seven hours a night, seven nights a week. On 21 November 1960 Harrison was deported for having lied to the German authorities about his age.[18] A week later, having started a small fire at their living quarters while vacating it for more luxurious rooms, McCartney and Best were arrested, charged with arson, and deported.[19] Lennon followed the others to Liverpool in mid-December while Sutcliffe stayed behind in Hamburg with his new German fiancée Astrid Kirchherr. The reunited group played an engagement on 17 December 1960 at the Casbah Club, with Chas Newby substituting for Sutcliffe.[20]

While playing at the Top Ten Club, they were recruited by singer Tony Sheridan to act as his backing band on a series of recordings for the German Polydor Records label,[21] produced by famed bandleader Bert Kaempfert.[22] Kaempfert signed the group to its own Polydor contract at the first session on 22 June 1961. On 31 October Polydor released the recording "My Bonnie (Mein Herz ist bei dir nur)", which appeared on the German charts under the name "Tony Sheridan and the Beat Brothers", a generic name used for whoever happened to be in Sheridan's backup band.[23] A few copies were also pressed under the Decca label for United States disc jockeys, as American Decca had a distribution deal with Polydor parent Deutsche Grammophon.[24] When the group returned to Liverpool, Sutcliffe stayed in Hamburg with Kirchherr.[25] McCartney took over bass duties.[26]

The band returned to Liverpool from Germany, and on Tuesday, February 21, 1961, they made their first lunchtime appearance at The Cavern Club in Mathew Street. Their stage show had been through a lot of changes, and some in the audience thought they were watching a German band. From 1961 to 1962 The Beatles made 292 appearances at the club. On 9 November 1961, Brian Epstein, owner of the NEMS music store on Great Charlotte Street, saw the Beatles for the first time in the club.

In a meeting with the group at North End Music Store (NEMS) on 10 December 1961, Brian Epstein proposed the idea of managing the group.[27] The Beatles signed a five-year contract with Epstein on 24 January 1962.[28] Epstein led The Beatles' search for a British recording contract. Epstein had been manager of the record department at NEMS, an offshoot of his family's furniture store. He played on the status of NEMS as a major record dealer to gain access to producers and recording company executives. In a now-famous exchange, Decca Records A&R executive Dick Rowe turned Epstein down flat, informing him that "guitar groups are on the way out, Mr. Epstein."[29] (See The Decca audition.) While Epstein was negotiating with Decca, he also approached EMI marketing executive Ron White.[30] White, who was not himself a record producer, in turn contacted EMI producers Norrie Paramor, Walter Ridley, and Norman Newell; all of them declined to record The Beatles. White did not approach EMI's fourth staff producer—George Martin—who was on holiday at the time.[31] The Beatles returned to Hamburg from 13 April to 31 May 1962, where they performed at the opening of The Star Club.[32] Upon their arrival, they were informed of Sutcliffe's death from a brain hemorrhage.[33]

1962: Record contract
After failing to impress Decca Records, Epstein went to the HMV store on Oxford Street in London to transfer the Decca tapes to discs. There, recording engineer Jim Foy referred him to Sid Coleman, who ran EMI's publishing arm. When Coleman heard the demo tapes, he suggested taking the tapes to George Martin who, Coleman explained, "does comedy records" and headed the Parlophone label at EMI.[citation needed] Epstein eventually met with Martin, who signed the group to EMI on a one-year renewable contract.[34] The Beatles' first recording session was scheduled for 6 June 1962 at EMI's Abbey Road Studios in north London.[35] Martin had not been particularly impressed by the band's demo recordings, but he liked The Beatles' personalities when he met them.[36] He concluded that they had raw musical talent, but stated in later interviews that what made the difference for him was their wit and humour.[37]

Martin had a problem with Pete Best,[36] whom he criticised for not being able to keep time. Martin privately suggested to Epstein that the band use another drummer in the studio. There was speculation by some that Best's popularity with fans was another source of friction.[38] In addition, Epstein became exasperated with his refusal to adopt the distinctive hairstyle as part of the band's unified look. Best also had missed a number of engagements because of illness. The three founding members of the band enlisted Epstein to dismiss Best, which he did on 16 August 1962.[39] They asked Richard Starkey, known as Ringo Starr, to join the band; Starr was the drummer for one of the top Merseybeat groups, Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, and had performed occasionally with The Beatles in Hamburg.[40] The first recordings of Lennon, McCartney, Harrison, and Starr together were made as early as 15 October 1960, in a series of demonstration records privately recorded in Hamburg while acting as the backing group for singer Lu Walters.[41] Starr played on The Beatles' second EMI recording session on 4 September 1962, but Martin hired session drummer Andy White for their next session on 11 September.[42] White's only released performances were recordings of "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You", found on The Beatles' first album.

Their recording contract paid them one penny for each single sold, which was split amongst the four Beatles — one farthing per group member.[43] This royalty rate was reduced for singles sold outside the UK, for which they received half of one penny (again split between the whole band) per single. Martin said later that it was a "pretty awful" contract.[43]

The Beatles' first EMI session on 6 June 1962 did not yield any recordings considered worthy of release, but the September sessions a few months later produced a minor UK hit "Love Me Do", which peaked on the charts at number seventeen.[44] "Love Me Do" would reach the top of the U.S. singles chart over eighteen months later in May 1964.

1962–63: Fame in the UK
On 26 November 1962 the band recorded their second single "Please Please Me", which reached number two on the official UK charts and number one on the NME chart. Three months later, they recorded their first album, also titled Please Please Me (1962). The band's first televised performance was on the People and Places programme, transmitted live from Manchester by Granada Television on 17 October 1962.[45] As The Beatles' fame spread, the frenzied adulation of the group, predominantly from teenage female fans, was dubbed "Beatlemania".

The band also began to be noticed by serious music critics. On 23 December 1963, The Times music critic William Mann published an essay extolling The Beatles' compositions, including their "fresh and euphonious" guitars in "Till There Was You", their "submediant switches from C major into A flat major", and the "octave ascent" in "I Want to Hold Your Hand".[46] The Beatles themselves were perplexed by this analysis by Mann: "...one gets the impression that they think simultaneously of harmony and melody, so firmly are the major tonic sevenths and ninths built into their tunes, and the flat-submediant key-switches, so natural is the Aeolian cadence at the end of 'Not a Second Time' (the chord progression which ends Mahler's 'Song of the Earth')."[47]

1963–64: American success
Although the band experienced huge popularity on the British record charts in early 1963, EMI's American operation, Capitol Records, declined to issue the singles "Please Please Me" and "From Me to You", their first official number one hit in the UK.[48] Vee-Jay Records, a small Chicago label, issued the singles as part of a deal for the rights to another performer's masters. Art Roberts, music director of popular Chicago radio station WLS, placed "Please Please Me" into radio rotation in late February 1963, arguably the first time a Beatles record was heard on American radio. Vee-Jay's rights to The Beatles were later cancelled for non-payment of royalties.[49]

In August 1963, Philadelphia-based Swan Records released "She Loves You", which also failed to receive airplay. A testing of the song on Dick Clark's TV show American Bandstand produced laughter from American teenagers when they saw the group's distinctive hairstyles.[50] In early November 1963, Brian Epstein persuaded Ed Sullivan to present The Beatles on three editions of his show in February, and parlayed this guaranteed exposure into a record deal with Capitol Records. Capitol committed to a mid-January release of "I Want to Hold Your Hand".[51] On 10 December 1963, a 5-minute story shot in England about the phenomenon of Beatlemania was shown on the CBS Evening News. The segment first aired on the CBS Morning News on 22 November and had originally been scheduled to be repeated on that day's Evening News, but regular programming was cancelled following the assassination of John F. Kennedy that day. The segment inspired a teenage girl named Marsha Albert living in Silver Spring, Maryland to write to Carroll James, a disc jockey at Washington DC's WWDC radio station, requesting that he play records by The Beatles. Carroll James had seen the same news story and arranged through a friend to have a copy of The Beatles' new single "I Want to Hold Your Hand" sent over to him in Washington DC. Immediately after debuting the record on December 17, the station received overwhelming positive audience reaction, with the station escalating airplay of the record. Made aware of the overwhelming listener response, Capitol Records president Alan Livingston decided a few days later to take advantage of the response and rush-release the already-prepared single three weeks ahead of schedule on 26 December 1963.[52]

The positive response to the record that had started in Washington was duplicated in New York and quickly spread to other markets. The record sold one million copies in just ten days, and by 16 January 1964, Cashbox magazine had certified the record number one, in the edition datelined 23 January. Aware that The Ed Sullivan Show was scheduled to present The Beatles live in early February, the Jack Paar Show licensed a film clip of The Beatles performing "She Loves You" from Britain's BBC and aired the footage on 3 January 1964, enabling Paar to claim that he had beaten rival Sullivan to showing The Beatles on a network TV show.[citation needed]

1964–66: Beatlemania crosses the Atlantic
On 7 February 1964, a crowd of four thousand fans at Heathrow Airport waved to The Beatles as they took off for their first trip to the United States as a group.[53] They were accompanied by photographers, journalists (including Maureen Cleave), and Phil Spector, who had booked himself on the same flight.[54] When the group arrived at New York's newly renamed John F. Kennedy Airport, they were greeted by a large crowd. The airport had never experienced such a crowd, estimated at about 3,000 fans.[55] After a press conference, where they first met disc jockey Murray the K, The Beatles were put into limousines and driven to New York City. On the way, McCartney turned on a radio and listened to a running commentary: "They [The Beatles] have just left the airport and are coming to New York City..."[56] After reaching the Plaza Hotel, they were besieged by fans and reporters. Harrison had a fever of 102 °F (39 °C) the next day and was ordered to stay in bed, so Neil Aspinall replaced him for the band's first rehearsal for their appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.[57]

Approximately 74 million viewers—about half of the American population—watched the group perform on the show.[58] The next morning, many newspapers wrote that The Beatles were nothing more than a "fad", and "could not carry a tune across the Atlantic".[59] The band's first American concert appearance was at Washington Coliseum in Washington, D.C. on 11 February 1964.[60]

After The Beatles' success in 1964, Vee-Jay Records and Swan Records took advantage of their previously secured rights to the group's early recordings and reissued the songs; all the songs reached the top ten this time. (MGM and Atco also secured rights to The Beatles' early Tony Sheridan-era recordings and had minor hits with "My Bonnie" and "Ain't She Sweet", the latter featuring John Lennon on lead vocal.) In addition to Introducing... The Beatles (1964), which was essentially The Beatles' debut British album with some minor alterations, Vee-Jay also issued an unusual LP called The Beatles Vs The Four Seasons. This 2-LP set paired Introducing... The Beatles and The Golden Hits Of The Four Seasons, another successful act that Vee-Jay had under contract, in a 'contest' (the back cover featured a 'score card'). Another unusual release was the Hear The Beatles Tell All album, which consisted of two lengthy interviews with Los Angeles radio disc jockeys (side one was titled "Dave Hull interviews John Lennon", while side two was titled "Jim Steck interviews John, Paul, George, Ringo"). No Beatles music was included on this interview album, which turned out to be the only Vee-Jay Beatles album Capitol Records could not reclaim.

The Vee-Jay/Swan-issued recordings eventually ended up with Capitol, which issued most of the Vee-Jay material on the American-only Capitol release The Early Beatles, with three songs left off this final US version of the album. ("I Saw Her Standing There" was issued as the American B-side of "I Want to Hold Your Hand", and also appeared on the Capitol Records album Meet The Beatles. "Misery" and "There's a Place" were issued as a Capitol "Starline" reissue single in 1964, and reappeared on Capitol's 1980 US version of the Rarities compilation album.) The early Vee-Jay and Swan Beatles records command a high price on the record collectors' market today, and all have been copiously bootlegged.[61] The Swan tracks "She Loves You" and "I'll Get You" were issued on the Capitol LP The Beatles' Second Album. Swan also issued the German-language version of "She Loves You", called "Sie Liebt Dich". This song later appeared (in stereo) on Capitol's Rarities album.

In mid-1964 the band undertook their first appearances outside of Europe and North America, touring Australia; Ringo Starr was suffering from tonsillitis and was temporarily replaced by session drummer Jimmy Nicol. In Adelaide, The Beatles were greeted by over 300,000 people at Adelaide Town Hall.[62] Ringo had rejoined by the time they arrived in New Zealand on 21 June 1964.[63]

On 6 June 1964, A Hard Day's Night, the first movie starring the Beatles, was released in the United Kingdom. Directed by Richard Lester, the film is a mockumentary of the four members as they make their way to a London television programme. The film, released at the height of Beatlemania, was well-received by critics, and remains one of the most influential jukebox musicals.[64][65] That December the group released their fourth album, Beatles for Sale.

In June 1965, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II appointed the four Beatles Members of the Order of the British Empire, MBE. The band members were nominated by Prime Minister Harold Wilson, who also was the M.P. for Huyton, Liverpool.[66] The appointment–at that time primarily bestowed upon military veterans and civic leaders – sparked some conservative MBE recipients to return their insignia in protest.[67] In July 1965, The Beatles's second feature film, Help!, was released. The film was accompanied by the band fifth British studio album Help!, which also functioned as the soundtrack for the movie. On 15 August 1965, The Beatles performed the first major stadium concert in the history of rock 'n' roll at Shea Stadium in New York to a crowd of 55,600.[68] Their sixth album, Rubber Soul, was released in early December 1965. It was hailed as a major leap forward in the maturity and complexity of the band's music.[69]

1966: Backlash and controversy
In July 1966, when The Beatles toured the Philippines, they unintentionally snubbed the nation's first lady, Imelda Marcos, who had expected the group to attend a breakfast reception at the Presidential Palace.[70] When presented with the invitation, Brian Epstein politely declined on behalf of the group, as it had never been the group's policy to accept such "official" invitations.[71] The group soon found that the Marcos regime was unaccustomed to accepting "no" for an answer. After the snub was broadcast on Philippine television and radio, all of The Beatles' police protection disappeared. The group and their entourage had to make their way to Manila airport on their own. At the airport, road manager Mal Evans was beaten and kicked, and the band members were pushed and jostled about by a hostile crowd.[72] Once the group boarded the plane, Epstein and Evans were ordered off, and Evans said, "Tell my wife that I love her."[73] Epstein was forced to give back all the money that the band had earned while they were there before being allowed back on the plane.[74]

Almost as soon as they returned from the Philippines, an earlier comment by Lennon made in March that year launched a backlash against The Beatles from religious and social conservatives in the United States. In an interview with British reporter Maureen Cleave,[75] Lennon had offered his opinion that Christianity was dying and that The Beatles were "more popular than Jesus now".[76] Afterwards, a radio station in Birmingham, Alabama, ran a story on burning Beatles records, in what was considered to be a joke. However, many people affiliated with rural churches in the American South started taking the suggestion seriously. Towns across the United States and South Africa started to burn Beatles records in protest. Attempting to make light of the incident, Harrison said, "They've got to buy them before they can burn them."[77] Under tremendous pressure from the American media, Lennon apologised for his remarks at a press conference in Chicago on 11 August 1966, the eve of the first performance of what turned out to be their final tour.[78]

The group's two-year series of Capitol compilations also took a strange twist in the United States when one of their publicity shots, used for a Yesterday and Today album and a poster promoting the UK release of "Paperback Writer", created an uproar, as it featured the band dressed in butchers' overalls, draped in meat and plastic dolls. A popular, though apocryphal, rumour said that this was meant as a response to the way Capitol had "butchered" their albums.[79] Thousands of copies of the album had a new cover pasted over. Years later, a commentator linked the cover shot with the group's interest in German expressionism.[78] Uncensored copies of Yesterday and Today command a high price today, with one copy selling for $10,500 at a December 2005 auction.[80]

Elvis Presley disapproved of The Beatles's anti-war activism and open use of drugs, later asking President Richard Nixon to ban all four members of the group from entering the United States. Senate Bill 1613 by Senator Joe Simitian prohibits drivers from using hand-held cell phones on California's roadways beginning July 1, 2008. Hands-free devices such as bluetooth headsets will still be allowed. This new California driving law will impose a fine of $20 for a first-time offense and $50 for each additional offense. There are several states that have hands-free legislation moving through the approval process. Among the states facing new cell-phone related driving laws are Arizona and Pennsylvania. Two other states, California and Washington have new hands-free laws going into effect in 2008.

Hands-free devices include bluetooth headsets, wired headsets and car kits. Your cellular phone must be bluetooth compatible to use with a bluetooth device. Wired headsets only require a head phone connection with your cellular device and provide a cost effective way to become hands-free. Hands-free driving laws are going into effect across the United States and some states will be banning cell-phone use while driving completely. California has 2 new laws going into effect on July 1st, 2008 one of the laws (SB1613) allows a driver to use a cell-phone if there is a hands-free device used. The other California driving law is Senate Bill 33 (SB33). Senate Bill 33 bans drivers under the age of 18 from using any type of wireless device in a moving vehicle.

Washington State also has a new driving law coming in 2008 called House Bill 1214 (HB1214), the new driving law bans cell phone use while driving starting July 1, 2008 and bans text messaging on January 1st, 2008. What is Diablo III?

We’re developing Diablo III to be the definitive action role-playing game, and a true continuation of the Diablo series. Players will create a hero from one of five distinct classes, such as barbarian or witch doctor, each equipped with an array of spells and abilities. As these heroes adventure through rich and varied settings, unraveling an epic storyline and engaging in combat with hordes of monsters and challenging bosses, they’ll grow in experience and ability and acquire items of incredible power.

The game takes place on Sanctuary, a world of dark fantasy. Unbeknownst to most of its inhabitants, Sanctuary was saved some twenty years ago from the demonic forces of the underworld by a few brave and powerful heroes. Most of those warriors who directly faced Hell’s armies -- and were fortunate enough to survive -- went mad from their experiences. And most of the others have buried their haunted memories and pushed the horrors from their thoughts. In Diablo III, players will return to Sanctuary to confront evil in its many forms once again.

Diablo III will be a fitting sequel to Diablo II, with the easy interface, fast-paced action, and visceral gameplay that Diablo players have come to expect and enjoy. It will also include many new features that will take the Diablo action-RPG experience to the next level. We look forward to going into much more detail on our plans for Diablo III as development on the game progresses.

What’s new about Diablo III compared to the previous Diablo games?
Exciting new classes like the witch doctor bring new gameplay options to the table. Returning classes, like the barbarian, have been completely redone with new skills to give them a feel unique to Diablo III. New customization options will provide for an even greater level of character specialization than the previous Diablo games, allowing the player to create unique characters brimming with power.

Diablo III is powered by a new graphics engine that can display characters and hordes of monsters in lush, fully 3D environments. Powerful special-effects systems and Havok-powered physics allow the player to lay waste to Hell’s minions in spectacular ways.
Also, Diablo III builds on the random environments of the previous Diablo games by introducing a host of new ways to create random scripted events throughout the game.

This creates a dense and exciting world alive with quests, NPCs, dynamic encounters, and viciously challenging new monsters and bosses. Diablo III’s environments add a great deal of interactivity to the game, including destructible elements and environmental obstacles that can be turned against your enemies.

In addition, Diablo III will benefit from Battle.net upgrades that will provide some exciting new features for players. Cooperative online play remains a primary focus, with multiple enhancements being planned to make connecting with your friends easier and cooperative gameplay even more fun. Can you give an overview of Diablo III’s storyline?
It has been twenty years since the events of Diablo II. Of those who faced the Lords of Hatred, Terror, and Destruction in the battle over the fate of Sanctuary, there are few still living who can bear to remember the horrors that the Prime Evils wrought upon the world. And of those who did not witness the terrible events firsthand, most believe the stories to be little more than myth. But something evil is stirring once again in Tristram, and it may already have claimed its first victim: Deckard Cain.

Will there be any other familiar faces in Diablo III (other than Deckard Cain)?
Yes. Players will encounter several new characters as well as a number of characters from the previous games.

Will players be visiting any familiar locations in Diablo III, such as Tristram?
Yes, definitely. Players will return to Tristram and certain other locations from the previous games, and they’ll be exploring new areas of Sanctuary as well.

How many character classes are included in Diablo III? What are they?
Five character classes will be included in the game, two of which, the barbarian and witch doctor, were revealed when the game was announced at the 2008 Blizzard Entertainment Worldwide Invitational. The other classes will be announced at a later date.

Will players be able to choose the gender of their character, regardless of class?
Yes. Players will be able to create male and female characters for all five classes.

Diablo III runs on a custom 3D game engine for rendering full-3D characters and environments. The 3D game engine not only simulates advanced animation sequences and sound effects, but also uses a custom physics engine that allows for realistic object dynamics and cloth simulation.

What are the system requirements for Diablo III?
We’ll announce specific system requirements at a later date.

When will Diablo III be released?
It’s too early to estimate Diablo III’s release date. As with all Blizzard Entertainment games, our goal is to create a game that is as fun, balanced, and polished as possible. We intend to take as much time developing Diablo III as is necessary to ensure the game meets our own high expectations and those of our players.

Will the game be released in multiple countries? Will the release be simultaneous? Which countries and what languages will Diablo III be localized in?

This article discusses the two aspects of working, working for money and working to provide a quality product or service.

Every human being has basic needs. Our needs include food and water, clothing and a place to live (shelter). There are some things that are called "a want" instead of "a need." Some people give toys as an example of a want. I would like to define Toy as things that bring pleasure, like a vacation. Some doctors have come to realize that "play" (toys or vacation) is a human need. You are probably asking what does this has to do with working for money or to provide a product or service.

When we can provide the basic needs of human being, we have taken the first step towards making money. Keep in mind that we things of pleasure as much as we need "food, shelter and clothing." In order for us to get the things we need, we either has to produce (make) them ourselves or we have to buy them from someone else. For example, some people make their own cloths while others only buy their cloths from a clothing vendor. Some people get great pleasure out of building their own home, while most of us have to buy our home. And, some of us may have a vegetable garden, but the bulk of our food comes from the market.

Think of all the things that people need. Now, think of what you can provide (at a profit) then set out to fulfill someone's needed. This is the second step towards making money.

Some people work at "Jobs" to provide other people with goods and services. When you work at a job, you earn money so that you can also buy goods and services. The amount of money you can make is limited. Your employer has a fixed salary which he can pay you. Plus there are only a set number of hours you can work a day. Working a job is working for money. That is, you settle for a set amount of money you feel your service to the company is worth.

When you work to produce a service or a product, you can make an unlimited amount of money. You can create a Business that employ others who wish to work for money. When you provide a product or service, the amount of money you make is not limited by the number of hours you work nor is it limited by a fixed salary. You can set the amount of time you spend working and the amount of money you will receive for your products or services. The value of what you sell is a perceived value based on supply and demand of your customers.

In order to make the greatest amount of money, you have to provide a product. Providing a service, in most cases, is more limited than providing a product. So, if you desire to make the greatest amount of money, provide products that appeal to the greatest amount of people. You can either make your own products or you can get them from another source. Either way, you will have to have a strong concern for the people to whom you wish to sell your products.

When your concern is to supply the needs of the people with the best product available, you are well on your way to making a lot of money. So think people and products first and the money will follow. Work for the people and they will supply you with money. I.e. provide 1 million people with a product at a $1 profit and you have made $1 million. The rest is simple math. It seems simple anyway. In fact, the only hard part is to figure out what product you can provide at a profit that 1 million people will buy from you.

This is being on the leading edge of a trend. Once everyone is selling the same product or some similar product, it is harder to make a lot of money. The best way to be on the leading edge is to create your own products that 1 million people will desire. The easiest and fastest product to create is "articles." Almost everyone in this information driven age are looking for some form of information. Just pick a subject that interest you and research and write about it.

Some experts say don't write about money and income opportunities because there is so much information already out there on these subjects. I'm not an expert, so I say write about money if you so desire. There are more than a million people who are looking for money or ways to make more money than they already make. Your contribution to the subject may just be what they are looking for. Some subjects you may not want to write about, like boating in the desert. I may be wrong, but I doubt if there are many people who are interested in boating in the desert.

You can't get Rich working for money! So, if you want to make a million dollars, find a subject that will interest 1 million people and that you feel you can share a unique perspective on, and then write about it. You could be the next millionaire.
